2024 CET Partnership Call: A key opportunity for Clean Energy Transition Projects

The 2024 Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) Joint Call presents a significant opportunity for organizations and consortia looking to contribute to Europe’s energy transition and the broader goal of climate neutrality by 2050. With an allocated budget of approximately €100 million, this call offers substantial support for collaborative research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects that address critical energy system challenges.

What is the CET Partnership?

The CET Partnership, funded through the European Union’s Horizon Europe framework, is a strategic initiative designed to boost and accelerate the shift to clean energy. The partnership connects more than 45 national and regional funding organizations from over 30 countries, fostering collaboration across Europe and beyond.

This year’s joint call is the third annual iteration, following successful rounds in 2022 and 2023. With participation from both public and private entities, the call facilitates cross-border innovation, knowledge sharing, and impactful energy solutions.

The 2024 Joint Call is structured around 11 key modules, addressing a wide range of energy technologies and systems. These include:

  1. Data spaces and interoperability: Developing frameworks for energy data management.
  2. Energy system flexibility: Focusing on renewable energy integration, storage, and system optimization.
  3. Advanced renewable energy technologies: Enhancing power production technologies.
  4. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
  5. Hydrogen and renewable fuels.
  6. Heating and cooling technologies.
  7. Geothermal energy technologies.
  8. Integrated regional energy systems.
  9. Integrated industrial energy systems.

Clean energy integration in the built environment

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include consortia of at least three partners from different countries, with at least two partners coming from EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Projects may include partners from universities, research organizations, public bodies, and private companies.

Application Process

The call operates in two stages:

  1. Pre-proposal Submission: Organizations submit an initial project proposal by 21 November 2024.
  2. Full Proposal Submission: If the pre-proposal is successful, applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by 2 April 2025.

The projects selected for funding will receive support from their respective national or regional funding bodies, with guidance provided on specific funding requirements.
