Tax Gap in Spain

differences in the payment of ibi depending on the place of residence

In this article we discuss the differences that exist in IBI depending on where you live.

Property tax (IBI) is a compulsory tax for any property owner in Spain. This local tax is managed jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the local councils where the property is located.

However, not only the local councils can demand IBI, but also the metropolitan areas can ask for a surcharge, powers that generate important differences in a property of similar characteristics depending on where it is located.

We review the IBI gap that exists in Spain and how to calculate your company’s IBI.
